Summertime and sailing go hand in hand in Erie, PA. The beauty of Presque Isle Bay and the pleasures of boating on Lake Erie are an important ingredient of this region's allure. This commissioned piece was a departure from the architectural drawings that I typically create, and was an enjoyable and challenging subject. The owner provided the photographs and after a consultation, a view was decided upon. The final touch was the placement of red in the heart on the sail, a small area that acts as the focal point of the drawing. The wind in the sails, the sound of the rigging, and the rush of the waves all become a part of the spirit of this drawing!
